Bogotá’s New & Improved American Express Lounge: What to Expect

If you’ve traveled through Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport in the past, you might remember the famously tiny American Express lounge—once dubbed the smallest Amex lounge in the world. Well, good news: it’s had a major upgrade.

A Hidden Gem Near Gate A8

The new American Express Lounge is now located inside the El Dorado Lounge, just downstairs next to Gate A8 in the international terminal. It has its very own enclosed, dedicated space for AMEX Platinum and Centurion cardholders, separate from the main El Dorado Lounge.

To enter, you’ll need to present both your AMEX Platinum card and Priority Pass. They did charge me a nominal fee of $0.01 USD, likely as a verification charge—so technically, not free, but close enough.

What’s Inside

While it’s no longer the smallest, this upgraded lounge still offers an intimate, quiet space with improved amenities, including:

  • Comfortable seating for work or relaxation

  • A small but curated selection of snacks, beverages, and à la carte menu.

  • Private attendant since the lounge is relatively new and I was the only one there

Is It Worth a Visit?

This new American Express Lounge is definitely worth checking out now since it is more conveniently located to the main security checkpoint than the previous lounge. It is also quieter and more private than the main El Dorado Lounge and other Priority Pass lounges at Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport.

Note: This is an AMEX lounge but not a Centurion lounge.
